How can Evidential help?

How can Evidential.co.uk help?

We are skilled in searching, reviewing and summarising medical literature. We can provide summaries of the medical evidence in a form that PCT funding panels can easily and quickly understand. This may increase the chances of the PCT deciding quickly to fund the treatment that you need.

This is simpler if you ask us for an evidence review before the PCT considers your case for the first time. If given enough notice we can prepare an evidence summary which you can give to the PCT, to help them make the right decision.

If the PCT has already said no, then a summary from us can help support your appeal - or show you why the PCT was right.

How do we work?

If you want us to help, we first carry out a rapid 'scoping' literature review. This evaluates how much evidence there is, and makes a rough assessment of what that evidence might show. We also make an assessment of how Government policy and guidelines might impact on your case. We can usually do this within a week. We will discuss the results of this scoping review with you. Should there be little or no evidence, or the evidence seems unlikely to support your claim for NHS treatment, you may want us to stop there.

If you want us to continue we will do a more extensive search, and read the identifed papers in more detail. We will produce a report comprising a summary of medical evidence, and an intepretation of that evidence which gives an overall view of how effective the suggested treatment is, and where possible its cost-effectiveness.

You can then take this report to your PCT to support your claim for treatment.
